Jack R. Reber - 80

Eaton - Eaton - Jack R. Reber, 80, made his final flight Monday Jan. 7, 2013 from Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, after a brief illness. He was born Dec. 28, 1932 to Donald H. and Georgia (Miller) Reber in Muncie, IN.

Jack was associated with Reber Machine and Tool Co. for 35 years before establishing Jack R. Reber, Inc. (Merit Tool & Mfg.) in 1987 with his son, Phillip Reber. He retired in 2001 from the machine and tool manufacturing business.

Jack is well known in aviation circles as pilot and airplane builder, owning, restoring, and flying numerous types of single engine aircraft. His associations include Experimental Airplane Association (EAA) Chapter 226, Anderson, IN; Antique Airplane Association; Pietenpol Association; Quiet Birdmen, an exclusive pioneer aviators society; Indianapolis Aero Club; and Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Jack was also a member of the Continental Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution; lifetime member of The Huguenot Society; the Junto Club of Muncie; and Men’s Prayer Breakfast, Eaton Church of God.

He is survived by his wife Janelle (Fisher) Reber, the love of his life for 60 years; one brother, David Reber (Mary); five children, Douglas Reber(Nina), Laura Bahler (Gary), Nancy Rector (Dr. Jeff), Phillip Reber(Janet), and Tom Reber; ten grandchildren; Eric Reber (Gwen), Faye Reber, Amanda Dunn (Jay), Alex Bahler, Carly Bahler, Dr. Adam Rector (Sarah), Dr. Bryan Rector (Nicole), Jonathan Rector, Cecelia Reber, and Andrew Reber; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Dunn, Nolan Dunn, Katelyn Rector, and Gabriella Rector; along with several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Don E. Reber.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013, in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel.

Friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a “Gone West Ceremony” (a fly by in Jack’s honor), at the Muncie Airport on North Walnut St. Muncie at 4:00.
